    Natural Ways to Reduce Anxiety

    adminBy adminFebruary 9, 2026

    What is Anxiety?

Most people experience anxiety at some stage in their lives. Anxiety can be short-lived and associated with a specific event (such as a job or phobia), or it can last months or even indefinitely. It can cause havoc to people’s lives. Anxiety is triggered by a variety of factors, including stress, grief, illness or financial worries.

The symptoms of anxiety vary from person to person. When your body reacts to a feeling of danger that is unshakeable, also known as the fight or flight response, you may experience symptoms like chest pain, an increased heart rate and shortness of breathe, as well as gastric issues such as diarrhoea and constipation, excessive sweating and flatulence. You may even lose feeling in your fingers and toes.

In 2013, 8.2 millions cases of anxiety were reported in the UK. Many people suffer silently or are unable to find effective solutions for their symptoms. There are many natural ways to reduce stress and anxiety.

    Exercise

Exercise can help to improve your mood and reduce anxiety. Exercise releases endorphins – the “feel good” hormones which help you deal with stress and pain. This is a great option if stress is the cause of your anxiety.

Exercise can also help to distract you from the worries that are causing your anxiety. It will take your mind off of your problems, and give you a sense of control.

Exercise can also boost your self-esteem and confidence. You can tone up, get fit, and lose weight by exercising. It can help you to tackle your problems if you feel stronger. Running clubs and team sports can be great social interactions that are often very beneficial for anxiety sufferers. Social support groups allow you to talk to people who will not judge or criticize your situation.

    Meditation

Meditation helps to focus the mind, and encourages you to take a break. When you suffer from anxiety, the conscious decision to relax and focus on your wellbeing can help bring calm and balance. Stress and fatigue can also be related to anxiety, and in particular insomnia.

Researchers presented findings at the 2018 Experimental Biology Meeting in San Diego that showed people could gain psychological and physiological benefits with a single meditation session, including reduced stress to the arteries and reduced anxiety.

    CBD Oil

CBD oil is used by more than a third of UK users to combat anxiety and stress. It brings feelings of relaxation and serenity. CBD oil helps to balance the body by binding to receptors in the nervous system.

CBD interacts with serotonin, the chemical that is responsible for happiness and well-being in our bodies. This changes the way the body reacts to anxiety.

In a 2009 study, CBD was found to “induce an antidepressant effect” in mice. A more recent review stated that CBD increased stress-coping behavior in a behavioral testing largely used to screen antidepressant medications.

CBD tea is also a relaxing and calming ritual. The relaxing properties of CBD combined with caffeine boost is the perfect combination to help users focus and have a clear, bright mind.

    Chamomile

Since ancient times, the chamomile has been used as a natural remedy to treat various ailments. It is known for its calming effects and is used to treat depression, anxiety and insomnia, as well as stomach problems. The compound in chamomile, whether taken as tea or in capsules, reacts with receptors within the body and promotes relaxation.

    Lavender

Lavender can have a calming affect on the body. Herbal therapists have used lavender for centuries to reduce anxiety. The scent is relaxing and the linalool compounds in the lavender interact with the messages sent to the mind, increasing feelings of happiness and peace.
